Peri-implantitis
Peri-implantitis is an inflammation of the gums and bone around an existing implant. In the long term, this can lead to the loss of the implant.
Our aim is to fight this inflammation with conservative or surgical measures and to ensure the preservation of the implant.
For existing dental implants, thorough cleaning and regular check-ups are an important pillar for preventing infections.

Once inflammation has become established in the soft tissue around a dental implant, it can generally be treated well with professional oral hygiene and improved brushing technique and is therefore transient, see Figure 1 below.

In cases where the inflammation around the dental implant also leads to bone resorption, the treatment is also much more complex. The primary goal is to stop the inflammation, see Figure 2 below

In some cases, it is also possible to rebuild the lost hard and soft tissue. In other words, to replace the bone and restore the presence of a healthy oral mucosa.
In our practice, the treatment method based on the principles of implant cleaning with the Galvo Surge, bone augmentation and addition of PRF has proven to be effective. This therapy aims to preserve the implant and especially the prosthetic works integrated on it, such as crowns, bridges or dentures, in the long term.
The alternative in many cases would only be to remove the implant in the long term and place a new one and then fabricate a new crown, bridge or prosthesis, see Figure 3 below.

Thus, in many cases, treatment of the implants and the surrounding inflammation is the only way to leave the prosthetic restoration on top of it in the mouth.
